Bowling Green Holiday Parade- Saturday November 20, 2021

The Beat will serve as a premier sponsor of the Bowling Green Holiday Parade on Saturday November 20. Parents of participating dancers, take note that you can find practice video links, sound file access and more on your DSP account. Click on "Shared Files" (look for the music note icon) to find everything you need.

Please also read the following information so your dancer is prepared for the big day:

What to Wear

Black bottoms (leggings, yoga pants, or sweats). We recommend layering multiple pairs of pants over each other if it is cold. A first layer of leotard & tights will also help your dancer stay warm. On top, please layer your red parade t-shirt over WHITE long sleeves (turtleneck or regular white long sleeved shirt). We recommend wearing more than one shirt under your t-shirt to stay warm. Hair should be neat, either half-back or in a full ponytail. Please accessorize with securely attached headpieces/hats/winter gear in neutral colors to match our palate- red, black, and or white. No other colors, please. Make sure all of your dancer's items are labeled because as the parade moves on (and the kids warm up) we often have items thrown into the truck. Dancers must wear tennis shoes. No dance shoes, no boots, etc.. Just a good, supportive shoe that dance well in the streets. Tennis shoes do not need to be in our color palate... Any color combination is fine. Light makeup is fine but not required. Please do not send your child in stage face for the parade. We are not masking for an outdoor event. If you would like your child to mask, they may do so.

Parade shirts ($15) are available at the studio from 4:30-7:30 on Wednesday 11/17 and 5:00-8:00pm Thursday 11/18. Pre-ordered shirts (you were to e-mail if you needed one- so you can check your sent mail to see if you did) will go home before our add-on shirts are released. If you didn't order and still need one, e-mail us at thebeatdancecompany@gmail.com to get on the reserve list. Note that this is the same red t-shirt we've been wearing the past several years!

Where to Go/When to Report

We have uploaded a map of BG to DSP if you need a visual. We are unit #13 in the parade. Dancers & parent volunteers are asked to report to our meeting area on Frazee between 8:30 and 8:45am on Saturday morning. We will use ALL of this time to practice and line up before we step off at 9:45am, so please be prompt. We will exit the parade on Dixie Street near Rite Aid/Kenwood School. Parents who want to march with us- unless you are really trying to bank your steps for the day we recommend that you leave a car near Kenwood & get dropped off at the bay at Frazee so you do not need to walk all the way back… For parents observing the parade, please do the following: Drive on North Prospect to drop your dancer near The Beat's meeting area on Frazee St.. DO NOT drive into the meeting area. We cannot stress the post-performance pickup procedure enough- Once the parade begins and The Beat dances past you, we ask that you join us on foot and follow us to the end of the parade to retrieve your dancer. Please be prompt to with parade pickup and DO NOT plan to drive to pick your dancer up. You will take your dancer once The Beat has finished in the parade... not when the whole parade is over. We have a long, cold morning participating in the parade, and we appreciate your promptness in picking up your dancer! We recommend that you set up to watch us near the four corners intersection at Main & Wooster St..

Other Information

Please make sure your dancer is prepared by getting a good night's sleep, eating breakfast beforehand, and using the restroom right before you head our way! Please also be sure they are confident in the choreography. Videos can be accessed through your DSP account
