The Beat Dance Company opened in the Bowling Green community in 2008. Since a humble beginning in the South Main Common Space building, The Beat has grown to include 250+ dancers, a spacious dance facility, and a team of dedicated, experienced faculty. Under the direction of Colleen Murphy, MA in Dance Education from The University of Hawaii, The Beat offers a well-rounded experience in dance for each student. Our knowledgeable instructors help dancers build sound technique in a supportive, upbeat atmosphere. Our dancers are known for their versatility, performance quality, and technique. Furthermore, we stress a sense of team and a love for the art of dance. The Beat is home to an extensive recreational dance program, as well as a nationally-ranked Competition Company. We offer classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, and tumbling. Our facilities feature three dance rooms with sprung dance floors and marley surface for dancer safety, parent viewing windows, and a convenient drop-off option for families.
