Summer Dance at The Beat

Summer is the perfect time to try out a new class, brush up on skills while learning new ones, and have fun at the studio. We offer multiple options for summer dance at the The Beat, including a 4-week session of evening classes July 8-August 2 and a variety of special workshops/boot camps beginning in June.

Registration for summer classes is now open online. BDC families must have a DSP Account with a zero balance in order to select classes.

Skills + Combo Clinic with Sky (grade 6-8)

BDC Instructor Sky Yang is offering a 2-day clinic in July for intermediate/advanced level dancers in our Competition Company. This clinic is designed for jazz and contemporary/lyrical dancers entering grade 6-8 in the fall. Participation in all sections is recommended. Class scheduling/description is as follows:

Tuesday and Thursday, July 16 & 18:

10:00-11:30am Jumps & Leaps

11:30-1:00pm Turns

1:00-2:00pm Lunch Break

2:00-3:30pm Combo Class - learn various choreography/combinations  

The cost is $85 for the full clinic. Contact us via email thebeatdancecompany@gmail.com to register a la carte for a one day rate ($50) or per class ($20 per class)

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, July 15, 17 & 19:

10:00-11:30am Technique Class - after a thorough warmup, dancers will focus on a mix of turns, leaps and jumps

11:30-1:00pm Tricks Class - focus on tricks to incorporate into dancing (kip up, 540, advanced turning jumps, etc.)

1:00-2:00pm Lunch Break

2:00-3:30pm Combo Class - learn various choreography/combinations  

The cost is $125 for the full clinic. Contact us via email thebeatdancecompany@gmail.com to register a la carte at $50 per day or $50 per class for the week.

Tumbling and more with Coach Phil (age 6+)

Coach Phil is offering summer tumbling on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Our second session runs for five weeks (week of July 8 through the week of August 8) and the cost is $75 for the session. A class breakdown is as follows:

 

Aerial Clinic (age 8+):

10:00-11:00am on Tuesdays: July 9, 16, 23, 30; August 6

2:00-3:00pm on Thursdays: July 11, 18, 25; August 1, 8

Strength and Flexibility for Cheer/Dance:

Tuesday and Thursday, 12:00-1:00pm

Tumbling (age 5-8) Class is FULL - Two spots are open in the Thursdsay 1-2pm class

Weekly Class Series (July)

Mini Movers II, ages 4-5 Class is FULL - Join us in the fall! Our Season 17 class schedule is coming soon

Combination class featuring tap, ballet, and creative movement. Click here for suggested attire/shoes, and note that you are allowed to enroll in this class without the gear! Space is limited, register early if you want a spot for your dancer. We recommend registering for just one class.

Class schedule:

Tuesdays- July 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 5:15-6:00pm

($45 for the session)

Dress code: Tap and ballet shoes recommended but not required. Dancers should wear movement-friendly clothing. This could be dance clothing (leotard, biker shorts, dance dress, etc.), or any stretchy fitted clothing like leggings and a tank or snug shirt. Hair should be pulled back off the face. 

​

Intro to Dance, ages 5-7 Class is FULL - Join us in the fall! Our Season 17 class schedule is coming soon

This survey class will meet Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00pm. Intro to Dance is designed for kids who want to move and are new (or new-ish) to dance. Kids who have graduated from our "Mini Movers" program would also benefit from this class as a way to explore styles & decide what to study next. Class will explore a range of movement styles to give kids a chance to explore dance & see which styles appeal to them. Previous experience is not required. Ballet or jazz shoes are recommended, but neither required. Cotton socks are also permitted.

This combination class meets Tuesdays in July from 7:00-8:00pm. Students progress through warmup and technical skills, and learn choreography in both jazz and lyrical. Improvisation is also introduced. Previous dance experience is recommended. Ballet or jazz shoes are also recommended, but not required. Cotton socks are also permitted.

($50 for the session)
